By way of introduction

Me, and my aptly Czech-erboard coat, in a Prague Metro Station

Before one hurtles into assorted ramblings, it is only proper to be suitably introduced. You will have to first imagine a doffing of hat and shaking of hand, as I make my way to a figurative hotseat…!

This online blog has been born prior to the New Year. Will my eagerness zap away the usual curse of soon-neglected resolutions? Sticking to something is always a problem of mine (I desperately cling to my Duolingo streak…), so it won’t be uncharacterisic of me if this is it for posts. However, such pessimism won’t get me anywhere.

Close to a year ago, I graduated with a Masters degree in Twentieth and Twenty-first Century Literary Studies. After working there an extra year, I left the beautiful Durham City I had lived in half a decade, and returned home to West Yorkshire.

Being between jobs, it is safe to say my hands are much emptier than before; I was previously juggling my MA dissertation with a full-time job, and other voluntary commitments. I am one of many previously gifted-and-talented kids to burnt-out twenty-somethings, following a fairly pandemic-clouded university experience balanced with chronic illness, injury, and the various trials and tribulations of approaching adulthood.

When it comes to the purpose (goal? theme?) of this blog – as its title suggests – it is TBD. I am often filled with big ideas that don’t necessarily happen… so it’s a start that this now exists! Expect reflections on things I do, feel, or see, places I have been, what I have read, played, or watched. I grow through and find new interests regularly, whilst often returning to those I have had in the past.

To any readers, I wish you very well for the step into 2025.

All best,

Isobel
